I am a new American who moved to Maryland from Mumbai, India, in 2008. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Maryland (Go Terps!), where I received two Bachelor's of Science degrees, one in Psychology and the other in Animal Science.
I began my graduate education at Georgia State University in 2016, where I'm pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology. I currently study the neurobiological underpinnings of anxiety, depression, and treatment outcomes for the same. My clinical work in neuropsychology and psychotherapy has played a critical role in informing my research.
In addition to my research and clinical interests, I hope to pursue a career in mental health policy. I have served in leadership positions at the university (Georgia State University), state (Georgia Psychological Association), and national (American Psychological Association) level (visit the "Leadership" tab for more details about this). As your next APAGS Chair-Elect, it is my privilege to serve you and advance your needs in the field of psychology.

Hobbies & Interests
Having a well-rounded life is crucial to my well-being and productivity. During my spare time, I enjoy cuddles and playing with my sweet dog, Nymeria (GoT reference), who is pictured below with her best friend, Mr. Hugs.
I enjoy painting and swing dancing, both of which I get to do with my graduate student friends. My two all-time favorite TV shows are the West Wing and Friends. I have watched both shows at least 4 times each, and they never get old. Sometimes, though, I indulge in my guilty pleasure - The Bachelor.
One thing that anyone who knows me well can attest to is my passion for music. I have been singing my entire life, and I was part of a South Asian A Cappella group called 'Anokha' all four years of undergrad. We were fortunate enough to be invited to perform for President Obama and First Lady, Michelle Obama, in the White House in 2014.
